Grifter Records was founded in 1985 by musician, producer and engineer Tom Mallon. Grifter released American Music Club's first 4 albums and the debut album from Flying Color before being absorbed by Frontier Records, who had also distributed Grifter releases. Prior to the relationship with Frontier Records, Grifter was licensed to France and the UK through Zippo Records.
