Timco was a San Francisco-based rock band in existence from 1991 until 1996. They released 2 full-length albums and 3 singles during their tenure. Kevin Thomson and Ethel M. Deathel played in Austin, Texas-based band Nice Strong Arm and they formed the band with Sink Manhattan!'s John Wischmann after moving to San Francisco.

At one of their earlier shows, Mark Eitzel approached the band and proclaimed himself to be a huge fan, which led to Eitzel, Bruce Kaphan and Vudi producing Timco's first album, Friction Tape. Kaphan co-engineered the album and Eitzel put up some of the money to finance their second album, Gentleman Jim.

Thomson went on to form the San Francisco post-punk band Enablers, while MacMurray left after Timco's first album and formed Tina, Age 13.
